Above and Beyond began in 2007 as a personal care home with the goal to help residents enjoy senior living at their own pace. With personable staff and abundant services, Above and Beyond makes the transition to a care home comfortable and carefree for your loved one. Our community was founded by Basima Hamati-Attieh and Nader Hamati. Basima Hamati-Attieh has had over 20 years of nursing experience since she started her career in the 1980s at St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing. Her focus on providing high-quality and compassionate care led her to enter the field of long-term care. Basima now fulfills the roles of both Administrator and Director of Nursing at Above and Beyond. Nader Hamati’s skills in business and management complement Basima’s talents, and keep the business end of Above and Beyond running smoothly.
At Above and Beyond, we offer our residents a multitude of community features. No matter your specific care needs, we can assure that we will meet your expectations.
Common Spaces
The Above and Beyond community is thoroughly secured to ensure our residents are well-protected. Upon arrival, you will notice our building’s cobblestone exterior and many windows, followed by stone pillars that line the entryway to our front door. Inside, the light yellow and beige walls complemented with wallchiere light fixtures provide a relaxing and homely environment. Outdoor common areas are designed with accessibility, flow, and movement in mind for optimal resident mobility, while indoor common areas are a quieter place to enjoy the company of friends and neighbors. There is private access to an enclosed courtyard that is designated for our residents who require memory care. Due to the increased need in services, memory care units utilize wander-guard alarms on doors and also have a higher staff-to-resident ratio. These additional measures are provided to increase the supervision of residents with memory-related issues.
Living Options
No matter the level of care required, our community is designed to meet our residents’ needs. Above and Beyond provides accommodations ranging from large efficiency apartment suites to private and semi-private rooms. Residents have the choice to decorate their rooms however they may like, many choosing to decorate with flags, handmade quilts, and photos of their families. Our memory care community provides 18 units and a smaller, enclosed area with its own dining room and lounge.
Respite care is a great option for individuals who have been hospitalized and need a few more days to recuperate and gain strength before returning to their permanent place of residence. This is also a great way for a prospective resident to experience life in the community before making any decisions on moving in.
Dining Amenities
At Above and Beyond, all meals are prepared on-site and distributed at set times throughout the day. Residents often sit together and enjoy meals in a familial fashion. Meal times are spent in one of our two large dining rooms, decorated with wooden beams, bowl chandeliers, and several square tables with large, comfortable chairs. Residents also have the option to simply relax in the bistro, where they can overlook our beautifully landscaped courtyard. Meals at our community are often balanced in each of the necessary food groups that are vital for senior nutrition, including ingredients such as shredded chicken, eggs, garbanzo beans, avocado, and kale.
On-site Activities
Above and Beyond at Mountain View provides a variety of on-site activities. Our community offers opportunities for socialization in the form of dance parties, happy hours, movie nights, bingo, and card games. Several local church organizations regularly visit our residents and host denominational services, such as morning worship. Holiday activities include exciting celebrations such as Halloween and Mardi Gras parties. Residents are encouraged to take their pick of the many activities available within our community, or sign up for some of the trips off-site for even more fun. Our wheelchair-accessible bus allows seniors to explore their surrounding community, and go on local shopping, dining, and casino trips.
