We are a smaller care home located in a peaceful neighborhood close to grocery stores and shopping in Glendale, Arizona. Living Options and Amenities

Our home was constructed in 1973 and was thoroughly renovated in 2015. We offer comfortable and bright 1-bedroom units, with accessible options such as roll-in showers for those with wheelchairs or walkers. Private bathrooms are available, and units containing full bathtubs are also an option. Companion bedroom units are offered as an option to residents who would like to live with a roommate or partner. Ground floor rooms are available facing in any direction you might prefer. Our community utilizes central air conditioning, and temperatures are regulated to optimize the comfort and safety of all residents in the Arizona desert heat. We offer free cable satellite TV and wi-fi to all residents, as well as free parking for those with cars. Devonshire is a secure community, and we employ WanderGuard^TM Bluetooth capability on the premises to ensure our residents’ safety. Pets are welcomed here at Devonshire - dogs and cats are permitted in private rooms, and pet care is available as well.

Dining Amenities

We are proud to offer home-cooked meals to all our residents – they’re welcome to join friends for restaurant-style service in our dining room, or choose room service for a more private option. Food service is available at any time, as we understand individuals have different eating schedules and needs. Specific dietary accommodations are met, such as vegetarian food and low/no sodium options, to cater to all our residents’ preferences. We also love to bake and our home is often filled with the smell of freshly-baked cookies!

On-Site Activities

We love to host small, organized group activities tailored to the varied tastes of our residents, including holiday parties, birthday parties, BBQs, picnics, and outdoor activities. Musical entertainment is available on a regular basis. We often like to take a trip down memory lane with our residents who feel like sharing, as they have all led such unique and interesting lives! Residents who enjoy the outdoors have the option to take regular trips and outings to local neighborhoods and towns, and we make a point to tailor adventures to our residents’ specific life interests. For those who are reluctant to participate in social or recreational activities, we offer pet therapy and music therapy as positive and stimulating alternative activities. Residents may also participate in art classes designed to inspire a holistic sense of well-being. Games and trivia night are another fun way we like to spend our evenings here at Devonshire. We also have exercise classes that focus on stretching and mobility for our more active residents.

Outdoor Common Areas

Our home supports outdoor leisure for residents who enjoy it – we see it as an enriching aspect of life for many people. The grounds at Devonshire include an outside patio garden accessible to all residents. We even offer residents the option of joining our gardening club, if that is an activity that interests them. All outdoor common areas are secured and designed to be accessible for those with low mobility.

Indoor Common Areas

Indoor common areas are a quiet and serene place to enjoy the company of fellow residents or to just sit and relax. Residents have access to a fully-stocked arts and crafts center, a movie room, and a game room, offering opportunities to socialize while enjoying games of all varieties. Our entertainment center even includes Wii Sports^TM Bowling for bowling enthusiasts!

Personal Services

We have a beautician and barber conveniently located on-site to meet all residents’ beauty and grooming needs. Our staff makes hygiene a priority and assists all guests with maintaining their personal hygiene when needed, such as bathing, continence care, brushing hair and teeth, etc. Laundry and dry-cleaning services are offered to all residents, as well as personal housekeeping services, in an effort for us to maintain our impeccably clean home. Our home is able to provide residents with transportation services when needed, such as transport to and from doctor’s appointments, shopping trips, or religious services in the surrounding neighborhood, and we offer our own grocery shopping services to guests who are unable to make trips to the store. Devonshire is also conveniently located near accessible public transportation options.

Local Area

The surrounding neighborhood is home to many shopping centers, grocery stores, and beautiful green parks. Hotels are conveniently located near the community for residents' guests and visitors to stay. We are also located near a local college, so interaction with neighborhood students is frequent and cordial.

Medical Care Services

Staff members at Devonshire are available 24 hours a day to assist our residents with any time-sensitive or specific care needs that may arise. Staff members are trained in the use of the Hoyer Lift method for transfer assistance, and properly equipped to handle IV insertion, feeding tube management, and catheter/colostomy care. Our residents may schedule reminders for medication and care activities, and licensed and qualified nurses are on-site to administer injections and medications when needed. We have a doctor on-call to handle consultations, adjustments in medications, and any urgent medical needs that may arise. A dentist pays regular visits to our home to check up on all of our residents’ dental needs, and we receive visits from a podiatrist to ensure everyone remains comfortably mobile and fit. Regular visits from physical therapy and oxygen therapy specialists are also available, as well as speech therapy services, provided by trained and certified speech-pathologists. On-site hospice care is provided when needed, as well as respite care – a short-term stay – perfect for those recovering from a hospital visit, surgery, the interim during a caregiver’s vacation, or as an opportunity to experience a senior living trial period.

Devonshire offers specific services for residents with dementia issues, assuring they are well-directed and supported in living a healthy lifestyle. Alzheimer's and dementia may encourage wandering as a means of coping with anxiety, and so our community utilizes a locked, monitored, and secured perimeter to ensure the safety of our residents. None of our residents’ needs are neglected here at Devonshire. Local fire, police, and EMT services are nearby and always ready to respond if necessary.

Assisted Living Home

In the state of Arizona, an Assisted Living Home refers to a health care institution other than a hospital or a nursing care institution which provides resident beds or residential units, supervisory care services, personal care service, directed care services or health-related services for persons who do not need inpatient nursing care. This can include adult foster care, supervisory care services, personal care services or directed care services provided on a continuing basis. This type of facility provides resident rooms or residential units to ten or fewer residents.

Directed Care Services

The term Directed Care Services refers to programs and services, including personal care services, provided to persons who are incapable of recognizing danger, summoning assistance, expressing need or making basic care decisions.
