  • This Really is a Place for Mom

Brookdale has one of the best rooms available. They seem to be one of the best one's out there. Most other communities would get lower scores. There could be more salads and fresh vegetables available for the residents.

  • A terrific community for loved ones

Unfortunately our loved one passed away the night before she was supposed to move in, but the experience we did have was amazing. The staff members were great, the aids we spoke with were fantastic. When we selected the place and prepared for the move in, everyone including the billing team was extremely helpful and respectful.

  • I Really Would Not Recommend Them

I would never recommend Brookdale in Altamonte Springs to anyone. Maybe if not for Covid, it could have been different. There were a lot of CDC restrictions, no problem there. But my loved one ended up in hospice. The director talked me out of taking my loved one home. He said they would take great care of her, don't worry about it. And you can come any time because you're vaccinated. The head nurse also said that we could have up to 6 family members to visit at any one time, for as long as we wanted to stay. When my loved one was put on crisis care, the front desk gave us problems on multiple days each time we came to visit. They said we were not allowed to visit, and tried to prevent us from coming in. One woman referred to me as "heavy set," pointed her finger in my wife's face and said "You need to get heavy set out of there." I don't understand how they could be so rude, with no compassion, while my loved one was dying. The director was apologetic when we addressed it, but I just don't understand why the front desk wasn't notified of hospice visiting protocol. We talked to the regional director because we were so disappointed in the impression from the front desk staff. The place itself is beautiful. My loved one had a full apartment with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. The nurses were great, they were always nice and sweet. But the front desk staff is absolutely terrible. and always gave us problems. They made an already difficult time even more difficult. There is big problem with lack of communication here.
