Brookdale Salem serves residents and families in Salem, Oregon, and surrounding areas like Marion County and the Polk County region of Willamette Valley in northwestern Oregon. The community specializes in supporting residents with different types of dementia and offers premiere memory care services. Here, residents have access to two memory care programs including the Clare Bridge and Solace program.

The Clare Bridge program is an exclusive brand of dementia care. It was established more than 30 years ago and provides residents with six planned activities each day to promote and preserve the use of their current skills. The Solace program provides additional support to residents in the later stages of dementia. It includes elements of the Clare Bridge, but offers even more services including grooming assistance, and opportunities to engage in aromatherapy and sensory activities, as well as music.

Residents often find comfort knowing their safety and needs are priorities here. Staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. An emergency alert system, secured entrances and exits, as well as an enclosed outdoor courtyard and garden are also used on site as additional ways to heighten security.

During mealtimes, residents can look forward to dementia-friendly menus featuring easy-to-manage options in a small, intimate dining room. The seating is preselected to promote feelings of familiarity, and assistance during meals is available if needed.

Staff members work with residents closely and are given consistent care assignments as well. This promotes regularity and allows residents and dementia-trained staff members to build relationship-rich partnerships. Whether it’s care, activities, meals, and more, Brookdale’s goal is to tailor your experience and provide one-on-one support.

Community Services and Amenities

To simplify residents’ days to the fullest, the community offers concierge services, transportation assistance, and postal services. While staff manages the cooking and cleaning, you can indulge in some treats at the ice cream parlor, or relax with a close friend in the cozy fireside living room. An on-site beauty/barber shop is also present to save you time and a drive to the salon. The Personal Solutions program offers convenience, too. Submit a list of desired items such as shampoo, or other necessities, and staff will deliver the items to your door privately at no extra cost for the delivery.

Living Arrangements

Choose between a private or semi-private suite to decorate with your cherished photographs and favorite belongings. Do what you need to do to make yourself at home, and let staff know if you need a helping hand settling in. • Our experience with Brookdale

I think the staff was very friendly at Brookdale Salem. Everybody is generally shuffled together to the dining room, activities, TV rooms, etc. As far as my observation, there was not much more to it. My dad missed meals and activities frequently, he was not wanting to engage with the residents who were there. It was not the right fit for him.

  • It is a pretty good community

Overall community is clean, and the staff members are friendly. The care services are pretty good as well as the meals and dining service. We do not know what activities they have going on right now but we have received pictures of our loved one watching movies with other residents. We were excepting a little more for the value but they do a great job keeping us informed with everything that is going on.

  • Great experience

We chose Brookdale Salem because they allowed my mom to bring her cat, there was good feedback on communication, and there was a spin down option with medicaid so if she runs out of assets she will be able to stay. The staff members have been very helpful and upfront with me. I get an activities schedule so I know that they have a lot of things going on for the residents. They are very good about calling you to let you know what is going on with your loved one. I would definitely recommend to others looking.
