  • A warm and welcoming place

We chose Colonial at Fort Lauderdale because I wanted a facility with both assisted living and memory care, and they provided that. The location is great, and the rooms are large and airy and have a large sliding glass door to the outside. The visual aspect to the facility is very pleasing as well. The man who brought my loved one in went above and beyond and I want to give him credit. I cannot say enough good things about him. They could use improvement on the food. Most fruits are canned instead of fresh so they could improve the quality. They do not listen to your food requests. They said there is a salon on site, but there is not one. There is also no dedicated person to go to if there are issues, so that has been a little frustrating. I would recommend if your loved one is more independent.

  • our experience

After my loved one passed there were a lot of personal items missing. Things would just end up missing as soon as we bring it. Communication between the staff and the community was not good. There were times when my loved one was sent to the hospital and we were not informed. I would not recommend this community to others.

  • Home away from home

We chose this facility because i felt it was a homey place, it did not feel cold and institutionalized. My favorite part about this facility is the people there. The workers are very outgoing and will help in anyway they can. My mom has no complaints about the food, I have never eaten there before, but the coffee is very good. The first room my mom was in was small but nice, now the room she is in is much bigger and brighter. I would definitely recommend this facility.
