Community Details

This community subscribes to the Eden Alternative philosophy of care — aging is not about decline, but rather about finding new ways to grow. Caregivers — or Shahbazim — work with your loved one as care partners to provide the assistance they need. Everyone has a role to play in this community. Your loved one may want to help care for community pets, clear the table after dinner, or lead a group prayer. Being able to provide care like this gives the elders a purpose.

The four houses at Cottage Grove Memory Care have their own activity schedules tailored to the preferences of the residents who live there. Shahbazim focus on the physical, social, and spiritual well-being. Some activities include reading in the courtyard, balloon volleyball, and music therapy. A chaplain is available to meet one on one with residents, and worship services are held on-site. The on-site beauty parlor, ice cream shop, and country store are available for your loved one to use and provide lots of enjoyment.

This community is equipped to handle the needs of those with advanced symptoms of dementia. One of the homes — Alice’s House — is dedicated to enhanced memory care for those with advanced memory loss. Wander protection systems are in place to keep your loved one safe while they enjoy the courtyards. There’s also a living room, kitchen, and dining area in each house for residents to enjoy. Three meals are served each day in the dining rooms, and snacks are offered throughout the day. Shabazim will help your loved one with mobility and personal care as well as medication management and arranging transportation. Staff is available around the clock should your loved one need assistance.

  • Professional Excellence

This community was fabulous. I already have told friends. I highly recommend the Cottage Grove. The staff are over the top. They are caring. I was very pleased. My loved one was there for a little over 11 months. The food was pretty good and I would stay for lunch on occasions. The room was nice and had it's own private bath.

  • A great place for mom

We chose this community because it was more homey feeling. The other places we looked at were more institutional and cold. There was a more personal feel and we knew the care here was going to be good. They also have a smaller staff to resident ratio. The room sizes are great with plenty of storage and everyone has their own bathroom. The bathroom is good sized and handicap accessible. My mother in law has been eating things she never ate before. They involve all the residents in the food choices that are on the menu each week. The residents can see the food being cooked and are able to help cook sometimes. They do special things for example they come in and do all the ladies nails each week. Our favorite part about the community has been the friendly feel. I would absolutely recommend.

  • Very Happy here

This is a smaller community with 12 resident so you get personal attention. The place is spotless and a very homelike feeling. They have a room set to the side for the families to gather and we had her 95th birthday there. They wash all their clothes separately so this is really nice. They have really good homemade food there. If you want they do have an alternative menu to choose from. The nursing staff is good at communicating with me about my mom's care. They are watching holidays movies right now which they seem to like and they have an exercise class in the chairs. Mom has stated that she really loves the music here when they were playing Frank Sinatra. I would recommend this community.
