Family Affair Care Home

Family Affair Care Home provides compassionate care as both an agency and a residential community. Our dedicated, trained care staff is carefully vetted and capable of meeting our clients wherever they are in their aging journey. We offer a range of care options including respite, hospice, and assisted living. Our residential care home is a ranch-style house, situated on a corner lot in a cozy neighborhood in South San Francisco, where plenty of local amenities are within reach. For 14 years, we’ve been offering focused, quality attention for up to six residents at a time, giving you or your loved one the peace of mind that comes with excellent care. Given our small size, our home is a great choice for seniors 60 and above who would prefer a tightly-knit community and individualized attention over a larger space with less opportunities for one-on-one care.

Living Arrangements and Amenities

Our bedroom options are nicely appointed with furniture for comfort and storage. We offer four private rooms and one shared room to fill the needs of various preferences. Each room is on the ground floor, providing easy access to residents with all levels of mobility. All rooms come with cable tv and a phone for you to stay connected with loved ones. With plush blue carpeting, soothing cream-colored walls, and large windows for a generous amount of natural light, you’re sure to find our bedrooms comfortable and relaxing.

Common Areas

Our residents enjoy the comforts of home in our quaint, indoor common areas. Natural light spills through floor-to-ceiling windows onto the hardwood floor of the living room. The walls are painted in a light neutral-tone and houseplants are scattered around, giving the space a calm atmosphere. Comfortable, beige couches face a large TV and fish tank making this a lovely area to enjoy the company of your friends or relax outside of your room. Our house has a shaded front porch looking out onto our tidy lawn and pleasingly landscaped garden beds, along with a cute fenced-in side yard. You can also take in views of nearby San Bruno Mountain whenever you venture outside.

Personal Care

Family Affair provides a great number of services for the peace of mind that comes from a consistent, daily routine. We prioritize the health and dignity of each of our residents and offer the care to ensure both. Our caregivers can aid in bathing, dressing, and grooming, including special attention to your nail and skin care. Assistance with toileting is also available. We provide laundry services so you always have a fresh change of clothes or linens for your comfort. The residence is kept tidy and clean, with special attention given to the flow of our spaces, allowing for easy accessibility. For those who would like to safely stay active, we will assist in your exercise routine, encouraging your physical well-being. Transportation is available for trips to local medical providers or other errands around town, and if trips to the store feel like a hassle, we’ll take on your shopping as well.

Dining

At Family Affair, we recognize the importance of balanced nutrition for a healthy lifestyle. Our community provides three nutritious, home-cooked meals every day with snacks in between, and we thoughtfully consider the needs and preferences of our residents while preparing our menu. Residents may share each other’s company in our family-style dining area or take meals in the comfort of their rooms.

Activities

Our staff creates plenty of opportunities for residents to stay engaged and entertained for the benefit of their overall well-being. We provide a variety of activities for physical and mental stimulation, keeping minds and bodies active at whatever level our residents are comfortable. Our home has plenty of media options to peruse, including a variety of books and movies to enjoy in solitude or in the company of friends. We also have board and card games for those who would like to bring a little competitive spirit to the mix!

At Family Affair, we offer multiple types of services to address the needs of you or your loved one. We understand the varying stages of the aging journey come with their own joys and challenges and will attend to the individual needs of everyone we serve.

In our residential care home, we strive to make everyone feel like members of the family. We specialize in catering our services to the abilities and preferences of our residents. Our professional care staff is available throughout the day to respond to any needs as they arise. We provide select medical services, including medication reminders, incontinence care, bathing and grooming assistance, and any aid needed with mobility, such as transferring between a sitting and standing position or in and out of bed. We also offer respite care, a great option for those needing a short stay to recover from a hospital visit or for the time during which a primary caregiver takes a vacation.

If you prefer to receive care in your own home, we will start by consulting with family members, and if needed, other medical providers to understand exactly how we can best serve you. After the consultation, a skilled and vetted caregiver whose skill set meets your needs will be assigned to your care and can provide a variety of services, including assistance with daily hygiene and toileting, hospice care, mobility assistance, and ensuring medications are taken as directed. We can also help prepare meals or take on your shopping needs for added convenience.

Our residential care home is situated in a suburban area surrounded by single-family homes, nearby shopping areas, professional medical services, and outdoor recreation opportunities. We’re just a few miles from the airport and several hotel options, making it convenient for out-of-town visitors to stop in! South San Francisco is known for excellent Mexican and Italian dining, so authentic culinary adventures are always close at hand. The San Bruno Mountain County and State Park is just a short drive from our home and features scenic views of the city, meandering hiking trails, and plenty of spots to picnic and take in the natural surroundings. We’re less than a mile from a few grocery stores and pharmacy options, and about a ten minute drive away is the Seton Medical Center, serving the community 24/7.

Care Types Offered

Family Affair Care Home is licensed as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, or RCFE, which in the state of California refers to a housing arrangement chosen voluntarily by persons 60 years of age or over, or their authorized representative, where varying levels and intensities of care and supervision, protective supervision, or personal care are provided, based upon their varying needs, as determined in order to be admitted and to remain in the facility. RCFEs are also referred to as assisted living facilities and board and care facilities. Persons under 60 years of age with compatible needs may be allowed to be admitted or retained in an RCFE, if certain conditions are met.
