Explore how home care can help you stay in your home longer, while preserving your quality of life and empowering you on your wellness journey. Home Care Assistance (HCA) of Dayton offers in-home care to Dayton, Ohio, and the surrounding areas, as part of a mission to change how the world ages. The skilled caregivers of HCA collaborate with clients in a positive, balanced approach to help them live happier, healthier lives at home.

Using the Balanced Care Method, HCA’s caregivers promote healthy longevity through specific lifestyle behaviors that enhance the lives of older adults in their care. Mental health plays an important role in longevity and living at home. HCA caregivers use the Cognitive Therapeutics Method to stimulate cognitive function and promote overall brain health in clients living with mental health issues.

Services Offered

HCA’s team of caregivers support clients through a variety of care options, tailored to their specific needs and interests. For those who need part-time or limited care, they provide hourly care, respite care, companion care, and post-hospital care. If your loved one needs care for certain health conditions, HCA specializes in Alzheimer’s care, dementia home care, stroke care, and Parkinson’s care. Other options include 24-hour care and live-in care.

If you live far away from your loved one, you know how hard it can be to navigate their daily health needs. Vital monitoring through the Stay Connected Plan allows you to keep up-to-date on your loved one’s health from afar. While this service operates remotely through smart health devices, a registered nurse monitors and assesses each reading. Concerning or unusual vitals will be addressed in real-time by HCA staff, so you know your loved one will receive timely medical care. All of HCA’s services function as a lifeline for keeping you or your loved one safe at home.

  • We like the services

They seem to be a little short staffed just with everything that is going on right now. When you need someone to care for your loved one and you cant be there this is a great option. This makes my dads life a lot easier and gives him the ability to live alone.

  • Deeply Disappointed

I engaged with HCA primarily for the in home care of my aunt, who is highly functioning with dementia. I was told that for a 24 hour, 5 day weekly schedule we would most likely have 4 caregivers (three shifts and one floater). Over 10 weeks we had 15 different caregivers, even though we went to a 12 hour, 5 day weekly schedule after two weeks. Those care givers had widely different levels of skill, experience, and commitment. There were three that I would describe as having all of the key caregiver qualities: skill, care, a sense of responsibility and dedication. One caregiver took my 90 year old aunt on a walk in 30 degree weather without a hat or scarf or gloves, I am convinced in order to fulfill the exercise requirement. I went with HCA primarily because of their cognitive therapy program. They did not start that program with my aunt for well over a month (they told me because there was a patient evaluation and training to be completed, they told their caregiver it was because they didn't have the materials available). They were more then 20 minutes late 4 times in the first 12 days of service. Two of their caregivers fell asleep on my couch while my aunt watched television. In short, I think this agency has a good program but does not have a staff of caregivers to enact that program in a way that is beneficial for the person who needs care.

  • Be clear with your instruction

We only used this agency for 2 days and the caregivers were not as interactive with my mom as I had hoped for. My mom just sits and watches TV so they sat with her and watched TV as well. They were on time, courteous and professional. Even when my mom became confused and said that no one showed the second day we were able to figure out that they had in fact been there she just did not remember. I would recommend this agency but I would also recommend that you give them a guide line as to what you would expect them to do with your loved one while they were there.
