If your loved one has Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, you may wish to consider a dedicated memory care community like Keepsake Village. You’ll appreciate the inviting environment of this one-story community. The covered porch offers plenty of seating where you can enjoy the peaceful environment, and the colorful blooms and raised gardening beds in the courtyard provide a peaceful outdoor environment. Inside, you’ll find cozy living areas and a kind staff to make your loved one feel right at home.

Keepsake Village is nestled into a quiet residential area near Lake Onondaga. Nearby you can watch AAA baseball team the Syracuse Chiefs play at NBT Bank Stadium. For entertainment, the Landmark Theater produces several musical acts and plays in an elegant, old-world building.

Community Amenities and Services

Your loved one will engage in a variety of activities throughout the day. Caregivers will encourage your loved one to engage in physical activities designed to maintain and improve their mobility. Physical activities suit a variety of interests with options such as a walking club, tai chi, dancing, and chair exercises. Keepsake Village also provides activities designed to stimulate your loved one’s cognitive abilities. Examples include small group discussions on broad topics, such as science as well as outcome-oriented activities, like puzzles. All activities focus on one of six cognitive domains: short-term or long-term memory, computation, language, critical thinking, and visuospatial understanding.

Your loved one will enjoy delicious meals served restaurant-style in the spacious dining room. Regular housekeeping, trash removal, and laundry services help ensure your loved one’s apartment stays fresh and clean. Scheduled transportation is available for appointments, shopping, and excursions.

Keepsake Village focuses on person-centered care. Caregivers want to know your loved one’s life history — childhood memories, favorite foods, and family traditions all help caregivers understand your loved one better. In addition to this thoughtful care, your loved one will benefit from the Mosher-Gardens program of care. This program strives to make your loved one feel more comfortable and reduces symptoms of agitation through predictable routines. Your loved one will alternate active and passive activities, so they don’t become overwhelmed. Should your loved one need it, on-site physical therapy is available.

Living Arrangements

Keepsake Village offers private and semi-private apartments. Some layouts include a kitchenette. The attached bathroom has safety features, including grab bars. These apartments just need your loved one’s favorite keepsakes so they can make this space their own.

State Classification

The staff jumped through hoops to get us into the community. They went above and beyond to secure our loved a spot. I would recommend this community to others

  • The move m experience was for from positive(January 2017). They were supposed to have room painted, carpet cleaned and furniture that was there taken out so we could move my other own furniture in. Two days prior to our scheduled move in, we called Lisa Merrill to make sure this ward would be all set and was assured it would be on move in day, when had arranged for help from friends/family to helpful. the morning, upon arrival to keep sure the room had furniture in it, walls were dirty and unpainted + carpet had not been cleaned. Unfortunately we had no choice but to move in once the furniture there had been taken out. Though Lisa was aware of my anger and disappointment, she was more interested in getting the cheque from us. The worst have since been fixed but it made for a stressful start inn what was already a stressful situation. Some staff are great and worked hard to amend the situation. Others did not.
