  • Great Staff!

Just recently placed my mother in law here in September of 2020 and we have had nothing but superb care and amazing communication from the Executive Director who gave us her personal cell phone to call her if we needed anything. My sister called the executive director on a Saturday with a few extra questions and she picked up and we had a great conversation with her. We have experienced nothing but kindness and my mother in law has received the best care. We especially love the nurses here who are very attentive to my mother in law who can be a little persnickety. Kudos to the Director of Nursing, [name removed] as well! We did have some issues with my mother in law falling at the house, but once we moved her into Paul House, she's had no falls and has been doing well. They even placed a mat by her bed in case she does fall, bur fingers crossed, no falls!

  • Horrible eperience, think twice before coming here

A close relative of mine was here recently and she was extremely unhappy with the care she received. Her first night there she had an accident on herself and was left for an extended period of time and nobody came to check on her or clean her up. She was left in the room alone crying for help. The staff at this facility never got her up and walking with physical therapy so she was completely bedridden the whole time she was there. Then her Medicare ran out and they just sent her home in horrible condition, mentally and physically. When she went in she was able to walk and take care of her basic needs, now she is bedridden needing 24 hour care. She was in a different nursing facility prior to her stay at Paul's House and it was a much better experience. I highly recommend doing research before sending a loved one here. I can almost guarantee you can find somewhere better for your loved one.

  • DON'T GO HERE!

I am a social worker. An elderly (93 y/o) client was moved to Paul House (which changed from St. Paul to plain "Paul" at the turn of the year when the Lutherans sold it to a private firm). When she was there she fell and fractured her hip, was taken to hospital and returned. The Paul Home is trying to collect $50,000 from her for her extended stay following the injury, which would not have happened were she properly supervised and precautions such as mats placed beside her bed. This is manifestlly unfair and a form of senior financial abuse. We are getting her "lawyered up". In addition, the Home is trying to do all they can to discourage her from leaving and blocking the place she's chosen from taking her by saying she needs a sliding board for transfers, in which case they can't admit her. I've visited her at least eight times and there has never, ever been such a board used for transfers. We let that institution know. Further, the client, who is mentally very sharp, says the place is grossly understaffed and there were zero followup x-rays following her injury until she insisted on it to a visiting nurse practitioner. This is a terrible place and as a social worker of 40+ years experience with elderly, it ranks among the worst I've ever had clients in. Their attempt to take advantage of this client financially is beneath contempt and we will pursue a legal and/or government intervention to remedy.
