Preferred Care at Home Tucson makes it possible for you or your loved one to stay in your familiar, comfortable surroundings, instead of moving into a new surrounding. Our goal is to give you or your loved one a high quality of life in one of their favorite places — their home.

We serve the greater Tucson area and provide several levels of non-medical care. Whether you want a companion for a few hours a week, or need live-in care, we can accommodate you. Our caregivers are screened and chosen to give you access to outstanding care at affordable prices.

Our Services

Preferred Care at Home offers multiple levels of care to suit your needs, as well as a “virtual transparency room,” an interactive online portal that collects patient data, so that family members can check in on the care their loved one is receiving. In this private space, you’ll be able to view messages from your loved one’s caregiver about how they are doing and what tasks have been completed for the day. For those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, our specialized caregivers will offer your loved one mental stimulation through games, conversation, and encouragement in activities that they enjoy, such as a favorite craft or pastime. We’ll also help you maintain a safe home environment and give hygiene and medication reminders.

Companion care is available for as little as one hour a week. Our companions will keep you or your loved one engaged in a mixture of personal and social interaction. They can reminisce with you, help you pursue your hobbies, play games and watch movies, and even accompany you to visit friends or attend activities.

Homemaker care alleviates the pressure of household chores. We can handle projects, such as recording and saving recipes, grocery shopping and meal preparation, and household chores like laundry or taking out the trash. If you need help with some activities of daily living, such as eating, dressing, mobility, or incontinence care, then you may want to consider our personal care service.

Sometimes you may need extra support after you or a loved one has been discharged from the hospital. In this case, you’ll benefit from our Smooth-Transition Care. You’ll get a coach who will guide you through your discharge process and check in with you frequently to make sure you’re following all of the necessary instructions.

Live-in care is a wonderful option if you need peace of mind that your loved one will have the help and support they need day and night. We carefully consider the personalities of the caregiver and client, as well as interests and shared experiences. This also alleviates the concern of having several caregivers — you’ll have someone dedicated to your health and well being. Live-in care can be a great option if your loved one has Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Preferred Care at Home also offers skilled care. This is helpful if you need specialized medical help at home. A nurse will be able to assist you with things such as medical assessments and administration of medications, insulin injections, IV therapies, catheter care, ostomy and colostomy care, tube feeding, and ventilator care.

We also partner with local hospices to coordinate end-of-life care. We want to be a source of comfort and support for you and your family during this time. We’ll do everything we can to keep you comfortable and at peace, and will alert a health care provider if you are in pain. Our goal is to treat you with dignity during this time and give you and your family the privacy and assistance you need.

No matter the level of care you require, Preferred Care at Home will be there to provide support in the place you love most — your home.

  • Would not hire them again.

Our mom was in the hospital and needed 24/7 care. We had asked Preferred Care at Home for CNAs only, and we negotiated a rate. At times, the person they sent would show up an hour late, and they would still charge us for that hour. They would sometimes leave an hour to an hour and a half early. We asked for some money back, and they refused. I would never hire them again. It doesn't matter if it's in your home or in the hospital, it's not okay to just leave a patient that requires 24/7 care. Our mother was not safe with them.

The people who are in charge of sales will tell you things that they don't really do to get you to sign on the line . So don't rely on them to do things like contact insurance companies and see that through, because they won't do that kind of stuff. The tell you do they do, and then they sort of do, but they just don't follow through. It took a while to find a caretaker who was a good fit, but we kept trying until we found the right one, and she's been doing a good job. My loved one is very particular and has taken care of her own house for 60 years. So it's very hard for her to find somebody who will do the cleaning and things the way she wants it done. A lot of people when they clean have the mindset that as long as it's clean, what difference does it make how it's cleaned? But to my loved one, it really does matter. Our current caretaker is doing a marvelous job and wants to learn. She gets a list of things to do from my loved one, and then does them exactly how she's been asked to do them. It's expensive paying for the service AND the admin. Right now they're helping with relatively basic tasks like taking a bath, but not fixing meals unless my loved one doesn't feel up to it. If I were more able myself, I would be doing these things for her so we wouldn't have to spend the money on it. But I would and actually have already recommended them to several people who were in much more serious situations than we are.

  • Highly recommend

We chose Preferred Care at Home because of the location and I just really liked what I saw when I was looking at everything and talking to staff. They have been great with scheduling. They are all really friendly and amazing and taking wonderful care of my dad. I would recommend to others looking.
