Sunrise of Leawood

So happy that we moved both of my parents into Sunrise of Leawood. The previous assisted living facility was terrible and I was not sure of what to expect. Well Sunrise of Leawood gave me much needed piece of mind. My parents are active in the activities and look forward to the meals in the dining room. The apt is a good size for them. They have become stronger mentally and physically since arriving at Sunrise. Before I was getting calls in the middle of the night and going to the ER weekly. Since moving into Sunrise I have NOT had ONE INCIDENT. They are thriving in their 90's and I am thankful they are there. The staff is very happy, attentive and works well with everyone. THANK YOU SUNRISE!

We had experience prior experience before touring this community and we really liked all the staff members and they do give good care to the residents. However the community is just way out dated, it looks a little beat up.

Sunrise corporate contacted us after our mother nearly died from dehydration/overmedication and begged us not to tell anyone back then. If it weren't for the fact that certain people disappeared from working there, we would have SUED!! We've been told many times we should have. We also have a police report for the $1400 stolen from her room. Her purse, empty, was located in the nurse's office who 'had no idea' it belonged to our mother though we'd posted a reward and talked to them multiple times! Truly, it can come down to those people who are put in charge. If staff are icy and not wanting visitors checking on their loved ones, and a head nurse calls herself 'Dr.'....beware!! I thank God our mother survived her horrific near-death experience. It took months for her to learn to walk, eat and even sit up and hold a cup. She has lived so well since MOVING to a different care facility but we all suffered greatly due to Sunrise of Leawood. We hope they've changed for the better!
