(2) A Place For Mom
  • This facility has some potential. It looks like it used to be a motel. With individual room units close to the mountain, lovely trees and singing birds, it is a good location. When we visited, several residents were cheerfully mingling outside or playing a game at a picnic table. However the place needs a lot of renovation. The quoted price, $2500-$3000/mo, seems high in light of the facility's condition. The representative mentioned that many residents are "low income", and so are subsidized by a government program, Arizona Long Term Care. I believe that is their target market. Otherwise they could never charge that price, the same as some much nicer facilities. This subsidized care could be a good solution for some low income folks.

  • Doing pretty well

He seems to be doing pretty well. I know he has had some difficulties adjusting initially, but things are working out pretty well so far. I just left him not too long ago and he was sitting in the dining room getting ready to eat.
