Van Dyk Park Place

We have experienced love and security at this community, without a doubt. There is a strong drive in them to establish friendship for my mother. The communication between staff and family is very immediate and efficient. Also, they always use positive verbiage when communicating. And they provide me with feedback often, which is very nice. They're all amazing. I think they can step up the food a little bit. It seems mediocre/standard, but my mother still really enjoys them meals she's getting. They do have activities, although they're somewhat limited due to Covid. I think they absolutely need to include activities with more physicality - walking clubs, things of that nature, would be nice to see there.

Overall it is a great fit for my mom. The medication management is important in my mom's health and safety. The meals, activities, and happy staff make for a very welcoming environment. Both my mom and our family are very pleased we choose Van Dyk as her new home.

Our mom has been a resident of Van Dyk Park Place for the past two years and she, and we couldn't be happier with the care she receives. She is a wheelchair user, has incontinence and takes numerous daily medications. We therefore did a lot of research about different facilities before selecting Van Dyk Park Place, and it was absolutely the right choice for us. The medical staff is excellent, and they always have a nurse on duty. They and the caregivers actively keep an eye out for the residents' health, which is especially critical during the current pandemic. In terms of COVID-19, Van Dyk has been very very proactive with their safety procedures and precautions. For the last few months no visitors have been allowed, but you can schedule a socially distanced, 45 minute outside visit between 10 -12 and 1-3 pm. Once the pandemic is over Van Dyk will no doubt continue to multiple daily activities for the residents which they had beforehand. Also residents will then be able to eat in the dining room, which is excellent from a social perspective. The food can be bland and uninspired, but I believe they have gotten a new head chef. My mom's caregivers have been really good, and make her feel comfortable and appreciated. She always tell us "If I have to be anywhere, this is a great place." On a personal note, we also chose VD because it's within a 20 minute drive of me and my siblings. Visiting and calling your resident on a regular basis helps you to establish important relationships with the staff, and also helps you loved one have a more fulfilling life experience.
