  • Make sure the facility fits your loved one's needs

After looking a several facilities, we chose Barton House for our mother. It fit her needs perfectly. Mom gets very anxious when there are too many people around her. The fact that Barton House has only 20 residents allows her to socialize without making her anxious. The enviornment is very much like a home which also is a plus. Love the staff and the care they provide

  • Nice facility

This is a nice facility that has a homey feel when you walk in. The staff is pleasant and they seem like they genuinely care about the residents. It is clean and the food is good. There are activities to keep the residents from being bored.

  • Got there as quick as we could

We looked at this facility before Mom needed care. When the medical community suggested "now was the time" to have 24 hour care, this facility was full (maximum beds are around 20 clients). We began with another facility which was larger and had more general residents than assisted living or memory care clients. Mom's needs changed, we approved psychiatric meds, and were becoming concerned for her protocols and costs associated with living there in a private room, as she could not tolerate sharing a room with a room mate. We searched again for a home, this time finding there was available space at Barton Springs, so we moved Mom as soon as we could. Hydration, activities, physical plant, 5 meals, generous common yard with view of the lake and ducks made us happy to have Mom here. Individual care, and hospice care when needed made here time there comfortable and free of worries or excessive pain, for her and for us. These people value the client and the client's family, and care for their charges. Our main sadness is we missed starting her there in the beginning, but we were delighted to have her there for her passing.
