Light of Hearts Villa serves seniors 60+ years of age of all faiths on a picturesque campus in historic Bedford, Ohio. The community specializes in assisted living, short-term respite stays and memory care. Suites are spacious with full kitchenettes, 24-hour nursing assistance, chef-prepared meals and personalized support services.
The gorgeous building made up of panels of rose quartz was once an all girls' high school known as Lumen Cordium, Latin for (God as) “light of hearts.” In the late 1980's the Vincentian Sisters, now the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, realized a need for senior housing in the area and decided to transform and retrofit Lumen Cordium to become an assisted living campus that would meet the needs for the booming older population in Northeast Ohio. The original architects renovated the building to house 90 apartments, a beautiful dining room, a breathtaking chapel and a large activity center.
The property encompasses a variety of gardens, a private courtyard, a beauty and barbershop, transportation, computer lab, daily movies, and the list goes on. Also, there is a commitment to serving this senior population with grace and integrity, through quality, economical services. We embrace the 'aging in place philosophy' — where residents can transition onto the Medicaid Waiver program without having to move off premises.
Light of Hearts Villa is the first in the state of Ohio to offer the AeroScout Wi-Fi Emergency Call Solution. This enables residents to call for assistance not only from any location within community, but also the grounds that surround Light of Hearts Villa. Light of Hearts Villa is dedicated to staffing qualified full time registered nurses (24/7), personal care attendants, housekeeping, maintenance, chef services, a licensed social worker and life enrichment programming is offered at a minimum of two times per day.
Light of Hearts Villa is a 501c3 Licensed Residential Care Facility that is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity Health System which includes one acute care Catholic hospital, two skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, three grant-making foundations, and six health and human services organizations in Ohio and South Carolina.
