If home is where your heart is, we’re happy to help you stay there. Receiving assistance in your own home is a wonderful alternative to moving into a facility with unfamiliar surroundings. Senior Helpers of Chicago has proudly provided home care services to seniors in Chicago, Illinois and the surrounding areas for the past 10 years.

We’ll begin with an in-home assessment with one of our trained consultants. Then, we’ll work with you to determine the best care options for you or your loved one, taking into consideration what is wanted as well as what is needed. We have a wide range of care options available, from companion care to Alzheimer’s care, and even end-of-life care. Whether you need care around the clock or just for a few hours a day, we have a solution for you.

Service Options

Companion care is a great option if your loved one needs help with a few light tasks but mostly just needs company. Our caregivers will provide help with hobbies, engage your loved one in conversation, play games, scrapbook, garden, provide transportation to run an errand or go to the doctor. They can also prepare meals and provide medication reminders. If you’re concerned about home safety, your caregiver can conduct an evaluation to make sure your home is free of any avoidable hazards.

Personal care services include help with things like hygiene, bathing, toileting, dressing, and mobility. We can also provide meal preparation and diet monitoring, as well as medication reminders. A little help with tasks like these can go a long way towards helping your loved one remain independent.

If you typically care for a loved one, but would like a little time to take care of yourself — or even travel for a weekend — you might benefit from respite care services. While you’re away, we’ll help your loved one with things like bathing, dressing, and other personal care. We’ll also help out with laundry, other light housekeeping, and meal preparation. Of course, we’ll also provide companionship until you return.

Transitional care is a service we provide if your loved one is being discharged from a hospital or any other facility. They are likely still recovering and may need help adjusting to their previous routines again. We’ll take into consideration one’s condition and goals, when we craft a care plan. We want to be part of a client’s circle of support, and we’ll work with doctors and any other caregivers who are helping them to recover.

We’re happy to provide transportation for follow up appointments, as well as any other errands. We’ll also make sure your loved one is taking the proper medications by picking them up from the pharmacy and providing medication reminders. If there are new dietary needs or restrictions your loved one needs to follow, we’ll help plan nutritious meals and shop for groceries to make sure healthy food options are available.

Our surgery assistance and sitter services provide much-needed support for your loved one, if they are in a hospital or other facility. We’ll work alongside the medical staff and make sure clients are comfortable. We can stay with clients overnight, help with personal hygiene and comfort, and provide companionship. If your loved one needs medical attention, we’ll help them get it quickly, and we’ll also document doctor visits. We can even be there to help with discharge and will follow the instructions carefully before providing transportation to your loved one’s home.

We approach Alzheimer’s and dementia care with Senior Gems, a caregiving tool that helps caregivers understand what each senior is capable of, so that they can provide the correct level of care. It also helps us honor what is unique about each person that we are caring for. When caring for someone with memory loss, we want to encourage them to engage in daily life activities, stimulate their brain, and make sure there are opportunities for social interaction.

Senior Helpers of Chicago also offers Parkinson’s care. Our caregivers are trained on the progression of this disease and know techniques and strategies to spot the signs of motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s. Our caregivers can help with home safety and fall prevention, diet and nutritional needs, and medication management and reminders. We’ll help your loved one engage in light exercise to help them maintain strength, agility, and balance. Our caregivers are also trained to notice any changes in posture or facial expressions, and then provide any adjustments to help your loved one maintain their balance and coordination.

Our end of life care service provides comfort to your loved one and support for family members. During this time, we’ll support your family by helping your loved one manage any discomfort, assist them with bathing and other hygiene, meal preparation, and errands. We’ll also help the family by providing respite care. We want to give clients and their families the support needed during a difficult time.

Senior Helpers of Chicago offers many levels of in-home care, and we’re sure we can provide the care and support you or your loved one needs.

  • My Review of Senior Helpers of Chicago

The company was ok, but expensive. We used them for a 24 hour care taker in home. The office staff was good to deal with.

  • Unreliable Caregivers

I was initially happy with Senior Helpers. But be warned, they hire people who quit with no notice. Happened twice in 4 months! The first one didn’t show up one day and I didn’t know until that evening - my elderly mom had sat alone all day getting no medication and no lunch. The second one informed me by text at 10PM that had been her “last day”, with no explanation. Now I’m scrambling to find a new agency for immediate help. Reliability is essential in a caregiver. (My mom is a nice lady, cooperative and quiet, sleeps most of the day so she wasn’t the issue) For the high price they charge, I expected more professionalism from Senior Helpers.

  • Could not ask for more!

[Name removed] and his staff at Senior Helpers are the best. He listens intently, cares deeply and offers expert and practical advice with the best caregivers for my loved one. Even if I just call, he listens and "gets" it and knows exactly what i need to hear and needs to do. Such glad I found him and them.
