  • First-Hand Impression

Well landscaped outside spaces. Right near Apex park and shopping center. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Looked at 1 bedroom apartments. High ceilings, lots of natural light, and they are smart apartments which are very convenient. Voice activated lighting temperature, controlled and even comes with an Alexa. Only looked at Independent Living but has assisted living and memory care. One of the nicer communities I have seen in the area.

  • Beware of hospital-dumping

The community is dazzling, but the executive turnover is suspiciously high. Within a month of moving Mom in, everyone I had interviewed was gone. Issues addressed with the executive director were countered with "I can't comment on what you were told by the former administration." Also beware: this facility practices hospital-dumping--sending residents to the hospital for a medical issue they cannot address, then refusing to let the resident return. My mom was "dumped" because she was a fall-risk. The Reserve wanted me to hire a private 24/7 sitter for fall prevention ($25/hr so $16,800 per month in addition to the $8,000+ Mom was already paying). Note I observed staff on numerous visits playing on their phones instead of watching residents. When I refused, Mom was "dumped" while in the hospital for pneumonia. The State of NC requires mandates a 30-day notice before discharge, but facilities get around it with a new assessment in hospital stating level of care can no longer be met.

  • Don’t be fooled by a pretty picture and a smile

Run far and run fast. It is gorgeous on the outside, but once you are on the inside you'll see all the flaws. I am sure it is totally fine for IL – but specifically in Memory Care there is no structure, respect or support. Worst of all there is no communication! All the issues start at the top - employees are not treated well & consequently do not like or trust management. Ridiculously excessive staff turnover. Mgt will respond to your concerns & requests for information only if they feel like it - choosing to ignore you more often than not. This is truly a business & not a care facility. Staff is prevented from talking to families about anything significant at the risk of punishment by the mgrs. Good workers do not last long because of the way the place is run. Do not confuse kindness with care! I would never have believed it by taking the tours – but once you are inside they are unprofessional & disorganized. If you truly love your loved one you will drive right by and keep looking.
