  • Remain closely involved in elder care

The intent was great, but staffing was challenging. There were 2 staff members that ruined the experience, otherwise it would have been all 5's. If your loved one is capable of assisting in their own care or if they can advocate for themselves, it should be fine. But I would make sure to put video camera in the rooms to be able to look out for your loved ones, and I would do that at any facility.

  • Small with personal care for residents

Our friend was a resident of Sage Oak on Forrest Lane, Dallas for almost 4 years. This home was either built or retrofitted specifically with the needs of the elderly and handicapped in mind. The seven guest rooms and ensuite bathrooms are quite large and each guest room is painted and sanitized between residents. The beauty of this facility is that it is small and each resident receives individual attention. The rooms are supplied with a large television and residents provide their own furnishings which brings a touch of home to their rooms. The staff always seemed to be caring and pleasant and helpful. Covid protocols were strict to keep everyone safe and the staff facilitated “window visits” with conversations by phone. It worked well. This assisted living community allowed our friend to live his last years with dignity and comfort in a home like situation, not an institution.
